MRS. CLESTER DIED FRIDAY AT OSKALOOSA

Mrs. Nora O. Clester, 83, 15th and Vilas, died Friday morning at the Fairview nursing home at Oskaloosa. Mrs. Clester had been in failing health for several years.

She was born near St. Joseph, Ill., Sept. 13, 1870, and was the daughter of Robert and Mary Morton. She was married in 1888 to James C. Clester in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death in 1899.

Mrs. Clester came to Leavenworth three years ago from Urbana, Ill., with her daughter, Mrs. Celia E. Forbes. She was a member of the Christian Church, a Gold Star Mother and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Urbana.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Celia Forbes and Mrs. Elizabeth Karren of Redondo Beach, Calif.; one son, Clarence Clester of Chicago; a son Harold was killed in World War I; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wales of Oswego, N.Y., and Mrs. Rebecca Waters, of Yakima, Wash.; four brothers, Harrison Morton of Altoona, Kas., Arthur and John Morton of Severy, Kas., and Robert Morton in Kentucky; two grandsons, Blair C. Forbes of Leavenworth and Keith Swanson of Casper, Wyo.; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Alice Sutton, pastor of the Michigan Avenue Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.

Nora was united in marriage 14 March 1888 at Champaign County, Illinois with James Clinton Clester; son of Jacob and Lucinda (Peters) Clester.

James and Nora were the parents of four children:

1. Celia E. born 1890 married Hugh Bassett Forbes
2. Alta Elizabeth "Lizzie" born 1891 (#1) married _?_ Swanson (#2) William Everett Karren
3. Clarence Morton born 1891 married Mae Clestera
4. James Harold born 1896, MIA WWI

James passed away in 1899 in Champaign County, Illinois at the age of 32 years. He was laid to rest in Patterson Cemetery in Saint Joseph, Champaign County, Illinois.

Nora passed away 11 Sep 1953 in Leavenworth County, Kansas at the age of 82 years. She was laid to rest in Mount Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth County, Kansas.
