Samuel S. Brubaker, 73, spent more than 50 years in the Dinsdale community, died Sunday morning at his home of coronary thrombosis. He had been in poor health several years. Mr. Brubaker, a son of Jacob and Amanda Brubaker, was born near east Salem, Pennsylvania on February 8, 1874. He spent his youth in Pennsylvania, coming to Iowa in 1895. He settled in the Dinsdale community which remained his home for the remainder of his life. For a while he operated a store in Dinsdale but moved to the farm west of the village in 1910. He was also active in the livestock business, being manager for some time of a livestock shippers cooperative at Dinsdale. He was also active in public affairs, serving as Grant township trustee for 25 years and a member of the Dinsdale school board for several years. He untied with the Amity United Presbyterian church December 23, 1916, and was an active member as long as his health permitted. On April 19, 1924, he was ordained and installed as a ruling elder in the congregation and Presbytery at higher coucils of the church.
On November 14, 1900, he was untied in marriage with Mary Fleming, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fleming, pioneers of the Dinsdale community. Their three children, all of whom live in the Dinsdale community, are Rupert, ruby, and Russell. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella Long, and Mrs. Elizabeth Gross. Besides the widow and children, he is survived by seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Charles Shelley of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania; and seven brothers, Park M. of Estherville, Iowa; William H. of Traer; J. Elmer and Hudson H. of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania; Clark M. and Jay M. of Thompsontown, Pennsylvania; and Earl A. of Milroy, Pennsylvania.
Sam was a good friend of nearly everybody in the community and will be missed. Funeral services were held at Amity church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Ivan B. Clayton, and a former pastor, Rev. Christian Haupt, retired of Reinbeck. Kirsten Petersen of Waterloo, sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Maurice Mitchell. Mrs. Peter Byrnes, Mrs. John Morrow, Mrs., Hoer Miller, and Mrs. Warren Gray were in charge of flowers. Casket bearers were Park, Will, Earl, Rupert and Russell Brubaker and Charles hart. Burial was in Amity cemetery.

leaves widow, two sons, a daughter, all of the Dinsdale vicinity; seven brothers, of Traer, Estherville, Milroy, Pa. Hudson, Thompsontown, Pa. and Mifflintown, Pa., also seven grandchildren; two sisters preceded him in death;
