Beloved husband, father son and brother, Bernie was orphaned at age 5 and later volunteered to serve his country in World War II. He served with the 7th Armored Division U.S. Army in France, Scotland , Belgium, Germany, England & Holland and was one of the first troops into Paris after the Liberation from the Nazis.
Bernie was a conscientious family man who spent more than 22 years as a Life Underwriter for John Hancock Insurance. He also served as a member of the Insurance Workers International Union and as President of the local Union at the time of his death.
He was married to Constance E. O'Loughlin (Shea) on September 13, 1947 and predeceased by a daughter, Bernadette (June 13, 1948-June 15, 1948.) : In addtion to Bernadette, he had 3 daughters, Bernadette's twin,Patricia Marie, Maria Louise, and Margaret Jane.
