U.S., Civil War Roll of Honor, 1861-1865 indicated his middle initial was "J." - Thomas J. Wright. U.S., Civil War Roll of Honor, 1861-1865 and U.S., Burial Registers, Military Posts and National Cemeteries, 1862-1960 records that he died 21 July 1864.

U.S., National Cemetery Interment Control Forms, 1928-1962 indicates Thomas served with Company E 15th Iowa Infantry and died 24 July 1864.

U.S., Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, 1861-1865 indicates Thomas died 24 July 1864 from a gunshot wound.

Thomas', and others are recorded in U.S., Burial Registers, Military Posts and National Cemeteries, 1862-1960 as being buried three miles east of Atlanta on McClendon land in an old field 400 yds S.E. of McClendon house and 200 yds south of the Ga R R tracks. 7336-2190.

It further states that an unknown soldier, #2191 was buried with Thomas, #2190 with the unknown buried in south side of grave. The burial is noted as a National Cemetery, Section F, Graves 227 and 228.
