Thomas Knight Jr and Philadelphia Ryan married the 26th of January 1839 in Rhea County. Their license was obtained on the 26th and their wedding was stated to be ?after. Thomas and Delphia or Delpha had at least seven children including Tennessee Virginia, John S, Louisa J, Thomas Jefferson, Richard c, my gg grandfather Stephen Samuel, and Philadelphia. I might guess I have some of the names incomplete without the initials named and hope that a cousin might correct me. cherielynn25 AT aol DOT com

Notes about the family with DNA and including the rtecords for siblings and father
The DNA testing is clear results and we have it triangulated with multiple people. In y-DNA one can only prove as far back as one has male surname line descendants of two brothers of any patriarch. And once two brothers test you have the DNA of their father proved. If you test only one son of a man you might have an NPE a non-paternity event but if you test two brothers and they match then you know you have proved their father -
If you have a patriarch born in 1787 you need two sons of his with male descendants to the present who could both test the y-dna or any descendants to test the at-DNA and once you have tese matching, then and only then can the line be proved.
We have those multiple descendants tested and matching and proved - we have y-dna from males from the Thomas Jr line and from Jeremiah line and we confirm the y-DNA haplogroup terminal SNP I- and the root is Y-DNA I-M223 I2a1b1.
We also have multiple cousins who have tested the autosomal DNA and have multiple matches among the many documented cousins.
In the y-DNA we also have the verification of extending the line backward and the line if matching with multiple McKnight families .
Knight and McKnight males from Buncombe Co NC, Cocke Co Tn and from the immigrants in South Carolina all match in the y-line.

For ages Thomas jr states 1806 in 1860;
he says 1816 in 1850;
In 1830 Thomas Jr is age 20 - 29 making him born 1801 - 1810;
In 1840 he is stating 20-29 making him born 1811 -1820;

The late Jenny Knight in her research encompassing 50 years has Thomas Jr as likely the eldest and brother Jeremiah Jerry Knight as another elder son. Through land transfers and marriages records the children of Thomas Sr and siblings of Thomas jr as Jeremiah, Andrew, Richard, Martha, Tennessee Virena, John, Richard and Rhoda.
We believe mother Knight Sr must have died with the birth of Rhoda or soon after as Thomas Sr marries Spanish Lanning in 1843 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. This land was originally in Sevier County and was where Jerry remained after Thomas Sr moved to be near Thomas Jr in Rhea County.
