Bernice M. Quinn, age 94 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008 at her home.

She was born on September 26, 1913 to Jake A. and Bessie L. (Winchel) Hammon in the Town of Whitestown, Vernon County. The family later moved to the Wisconsin Dells area, where she grew to adulthood, attending school at the Newport Country School and graduating from the Kilbourn High School.

Bernice was united in marriage to Harry L. Quinn on December 1, 1931 in Wonewoc. After they married they made their home on a farm in Newport Township, later they also farmed in the Ontario, Hillsboro and Wonewoc areas. Harry preceded her in death on June 21, 1960. Bernice then lived in Wonewoc and later moved to Hillsboro in 1997.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Hillsboro Senior Citizens and a volunteer at St. Joseph's Nursing Home for 35 years. She also enjoyed growing flowers and feeding birds at her home.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Ennis of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Lorna (Tom) Miller of Hillsboro, Randy Ennis of LaValle, Dawn (Doug) Schmidt of Wonewoc, DeeAnn (Brad) Techlin of Wauwatosa, and Denise (Mark) Honer of LaValle; eleven great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Miller, Christopher, Bethany, and Aaron Schmidt, Carley, Emily, Alyssa, and Jessica Techlin, and Tristan and Brogan Honer; a sister, Muriel Kathan; a daughter-in-law, Veronica Quinn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by her Parents and her son, Donald D. Quinn in 1997.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Rev. Donald Ehler officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
