Laura married Darius Cobb in East Boston on January 1, 1866 in a double ceremony including her sister Emma who married Cyrus Cobb, twin brother of Darius.
The following was transcribed by Stan Myers from Darius Cobb's diary dated December 31, 1865, the day before his marriage to Laura Lillie:
"Sun 31st - The last day of the year, the last day of our single life. We are to be married tomorrow. My Darling is to be mine, and I my Darling's. She is to be my wife, Emma Cyrus'. Lord, thou has greatly blessed our past years, and now thou crownest all by the promise of this crowning blessing. I thank Thee, Father.
I close this diary with the close of this year. Nothing in my past life would I have changed. My past is Thine, O Lord, my future is thine. I trust in Thee. Amen.
The dear ones dined with us at our house, and we took tea at their house. The last day closed pleasantly and cheerfully.
This afternoon Darling spent an hour with me in the dear old room. It was a sweet and [savored?] communion, and fitting for the closing day. I love and honor you Darling. God bless your future life with me."
