Goldia Mae Tinney Kane was born on August 20, 1910 in Gans, Oklahoma, the second of eight children born to Alfred L. and Lula Mae Yandell Tinney. As a child, she helped pick cotton and corn on the family farm. She became a teacher and taught for forty years, retiring in 1973. After taking a year to rest, she worked thirteen more years as a teacher's aide.
Goldia met Edward Kane at a USO dance at Camp Gruber in Oklahoma. She married Eddie on December 11, 1943 and the couple enjoyed many years together at their home in Fresno, California.
Goldia passed from this life on September 2, 2002, having reached the age of 92 years. She was survived by her adoring husband, one brother, John M. Tinney of California, and one sister, Lois Burley of Edmond, Oklahoma. Funeral services took place on September 9, 2002 at the Stephens & Bean Chapel in Fresno.
