Alice Amelia Smith Fisher
1917 - 2009

Fisher, Alice Amelia (Smith) was the youngest child born to Sydney and Bessie Bell Smith on September 14, 1917, in Wauchula, Florida. Alice graduated from Palmetto High School as the class valedictorian at the young age of 16. She attended Becker College in Wooster, MA.

She came to Tulsa on Election Day, 1936 and was employed at United Supply & Manufacturing Company. There she met her future husband, Floyd W. Fisher, a salesman who later became president of the company..

They married in Tulsa on April 30, 1939, moved to Odessa, TX and then to Grand Prairie, TX in 1945, where they helped start St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. In 1950 they moved to Tulsa where they were original parishioners of St. John's Episcopal Church.

Alice was a Candy Striper at St. John's Hospital, a founding member of Daughters of the King Guild at St. John's Church and drove Meals on Wheels for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, infant son, her brothers Graham and Jack Smith and sister Edith Plummer. Surviving her are six children, Bert Fisher, Bill Fisher and wife Jan, Susan Johnson and husband Gary, Barbara Chapman and husband Scott all of Tulsa and daughters Judy Stoebner and husband John of Temple, TX and Kathy Scott and husband Jeff of Westport, NY. Grandchildren Eric, Rick, Scott and Kristin Stoebner, Julie Stoebner Mock, Bill Fisher, Annie Fisher Mong, Jennifer Johnson Sutliff, Clint Johnson, Marnie and Mark Scott, Bill and John Fisher and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church or St. Francis Hospice. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Thursday, 7/16/2009 at Moore's Southlawn. Service will be 10:00A.M., Friday, July 17, 2009 at St. John's Episcopal Church. Moore's Southlawn Chapel 663-2233
