This memorial is dedicated to my third great grandfather. He was the son of Nathan O. Oliver and Lurana G. Oliver.
His family called him "Bud" to distinguish him from his father.
Nathan was married twice, his first marriage was to Melvana Garrett. They were married on January 24, 1862 in Lyon Co. Kentucky. Melvana died about 1864, possibly after giving birth to their only child my second great grandmother Nancy Elizabeth. Nancy and her husband Moses Henry both died between 1880-1890 and their only child Henry was raised by his paternal grandfather John Paul Oliver. My grandmother didn't know until she was in her nineties that the man she called uncle Bud was actually her great grandfather. I asked her why she didn't know and she told me that everyone else called him uncle Bud so she did to and no one told her any different.
Nathan married his second wife Sarah Elizabeth McCormack, about 1867, they were the parents of Lawrence Maxie Oliver.
