Transcript from the Welland (Ontario) Tribune edition of December 10, 1880:
"Sudden Death of E. S. McEntee
It is with extreme regret that we are compelled this week to chronicle the death of the genial proprietor of the Commercial Hotel, Mr. E.S. McEntee. The deceased had an attack of measles last spring from which he never entirely recovered, it seemingly having settles on his lungs, and on Saturday last at 5 p.m. he breathed his last while sitting in a chair at his hotel here. He spent several weeks in the States thinking it would benefit his health, but returned a short time since no better., although no immediate danger of death was apprehended. We believe medical gentlemen gave quick consumption as the cause of his demise. The remains were taken to Michigan (where he formerly resided) on Monday for interment, accompanied by Mrs. McEntee."

Gravesite Details

Ed's death record indicates that he was transported back to Michigan for burial. Not yet able to locate his grave. Perhaps buried in the lot in Hough Cemetery of which he is noted as the owner, and where his infant son, Geordie, is located.
