A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Ollie Robinson Whitted. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herschel Brown, who died in 1985 and her second husband, Bud Thompson, who died in 2001; a brother; a sister; a granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson. She retired from the YMCA in 1985 as a desk clerk with 20 years of service. Christine was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church and the Homemaker's Club in Canton. Her hobbies were crocheting and crafts.
She is survived by three sons, Dale Brown and his wife, Suzie, of Yuba City, CA, Gary Brown and his wife, Brenda, of Canton, and Roger Brown and his wife, Elizabeth, of McDonough, GA; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Stephen W. Miller and the Reverend Keith Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery.
