Mary M. Beckett, 96, of Marion, formerly of Wilmington, died Tuesday morning (July 7, 2009) at Marion General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Beckett.

Mrs. Beckett was born Jan. 3, 1913, near Port William, daughter of Frank and Lulu Jenkins Wilt. She had been a volunteer at Community Medical Center Hospital for more than 30 years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Marion. She graduated from Port William High School.

She is survived by a son, Gary (Patricia) Beckett of Marion; two grandchildren, Stacie (Dan) Blevins and Chad (Peggy) Beckett; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Holly Blevins and Jessica Dome; and a sister, Elizabeth Wagner of Dayton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Velda Keith, Hazel Burris and Dorothy Smalley; and four brothers, Robert, Paul, Virgil and Harold Wilt.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Sabina Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until leaving for the cemetery Friday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 244 S. Main St., Marion, 43302.
