Leola was born August 1, 1920 in Lovell, Wyoming to Frank C. and Clara McArthur Pendleton. She attended school in Lovell and graduated in 1938 from Lovell High School. She attended BYU for two years. On October 5, 1941 she was assigned to the Eastern States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was released from an honorable mission April 20, 1943.
Leola then returned for the next two years to BYU to get her degree in teaching.
On April 24, 1944 Leola married Lloyd V. Allen in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. To this union was born 3 sons: James Willard, Frank Chase, and Rex P. Allen. Leola loved and took pride in the accomplishments of her sons.
Leola and Lloyd went to Greeley, Colorado and earned their Masters Degrees.
In the fall of 1946, Leola started her teaching career in Cowley, Wyoming teaching the 5th grade. She then moved to Byron, Wyoming where she taught elementary school for the next 37 years. Teaching was her life. She retired in 1984. Leola and her son Rex then moved to Provo, Utah where Rex went to Dental Laboratory School. While in Provo, Leola was able to spend many hours doing temple work. Rex and Leola returned to Lovell in the summer of 1985 where they lived until Leola's death.
Services for Leola will be Thursday, July 23, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lovell LDS East Chapel. Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 22nd from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Haskell Funeral Home, 459 Nevada Avenue in Lovell, Wyoming.
