SUSAN WOODS ENGELDORF 1917-1995

Susan Woods Engeldorf 78 0f Elgin Died Monday June 5 1995 at Twin Firs Retirement Center.
At her request a funeral sevice will not be held. Cremation arraingments are being handled by Payne Family Mortuary. Internment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at the Elgin Cemetery.
Mrs. Engeldorf was born march 31 1917 at Cummings Kansas to Samuel and Elizabeth Gibson Dile. When she was 2 years old she was put in the Atchison orphanage in Atchison Kan.
In 1936 she earned her Barber and Beauty licences and worked at the Sunflower Hotel in Kansas City Mo. Until the Bombing of pearl Harbor on Dec. 7 1941 she then moved to Alameda Calif. and was hired as a barber.
On weekends she worked in the volunteer program at Mere Island Hospital where she cared for patients and helped them in writing. She later moved to Pendelton to be with her brother. She opened a barber shop on Emigrant street.
In 1950 she married Marion Woods and moved to Klamith Falls operating a barber shop there. In 1965 she moved to Elgin where she remained untill April of this year.
She is survived by a niece Alma Vinson of El Centro, California and other relatives and many friends.

Gravesite Details

Sue was a very nice, Generous and Honest person and helped people in any way she could. She was loved by all that knew her and will be missed. Heaven will be Blessed with her presence there.
