CANDIDA "CONNIE"MARIE VALENTINE Newburgh, N.Y. Candida "Connie" Marie Valentine, a lifetime resident of Newburgh, entered into rest Monday, August 12, 2002 at home. She was 80. The daughter of the late Angelo and Florina D'Alfonso Soro, she was born January 24, 1922 in Newburgh. Connie was a 1940 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. From age six, Connie was raised on the farm of her beloved Uncle Patsy and Aunt Jenny D'Alfonso, who predeceased her. Mom's greatest loves were her family, her home, and her cat "Spanky." Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Joseph N. Valentine, at home; three children, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, one of whom was her twin brother John, and Edward, Alfonso, and Eugene Soro. Family will receive their friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2002 a the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16th at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions on Connie's behalf may be sent to Hospice of Orange, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550 or The Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center Foundation, 95 Grasslands, Rd., Valhalla, N.Y. 10595.
