Richard Gutierrez, 73 passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas, NM following an illness. He was born June 3, 1936 in Albuquerque, NM the son of Frank and Candelaria (Gurule) Gutierrez. Richard attended schools in Albuquerque. He married Mary Pacheco on December 17, 1957 in Santa Rosa. Richard operated a carwash in Albuquerque for three years; worked as an Auto Mechanic for several years and for many years worked at Square Deal Food Market in Santa Rosa. Richard enjoyed collecting coins; he was a longtime member of the Campos Senior Citizen Center in Santa Rosa and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Ron Gutierrez, a granddaughter he raised, Kandi Gutierrez., Brother; Danny Gutierrez. Survivors include his wife Mary Gutierrez of the home in Las Vegas; two sons Richard L. Gutierrez and wife Rhonda of Santa Rosa; Randall A. Gutierrez and wife Delores of Edgewood, NM; two daughters Elizabeth Audrey Gallegos and husband Arturo of Albuquerque, Annette A. Gutierrez of Clovis. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Ronnie Eugene Gutierrez Jr. of Clovis, Jazzmin Ann Rose Bentacu of Albuquerque, Manuel Alarcon, Anissa and Rochelle Gutierrez, Jamie Holden, Brandon Gutierrez, Cherie and Natasha Gutierrez, and great granddaughter, Brooklyn Aragon, great grandson; TJ Veit along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 11, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Joseph Thomas CMI officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S. Third Street; Santa Rosa, New Mexico. (575) 472-3369.
