Martha was a daughter of Thomas and Laura (Case) Luce. She married Ransom Austin in 1876 and had six children, including James, Andrew, Lillie, George and Rosy. In 1880 they were living in Denmark, Ohio. By 1900 they were living in Richmond, Ohio. They then moved to Andover, Ohio, where they remained.
