Clara Hankins Baker, 65, of Milroy, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000 at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Aug. 8, 1935, in Ripley County, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Josephine (Suding) Wissel; her mother survives. She married Roy M. Hankins on June 19, 1954; he preceded her in death on June 6, 1978. She then married Robert Baker in 1987.
She had lived in the Milroy and Moscow areas for many years; prior to that, she lived her early life in Ripley County. She had been employed by Schnadig Corp. in Rushville during the 1960s-70s. She was a member of the First Church of God.
Survivors besides her mother include two sons, Mark D. Hankins of Milroy and Roger Hankins of Rushville; four daughters, Debbie Sue (Mrs. Phil) Griffin of Rushville, Nancy Suitter of Greensburg, and Beverly (Mrs. Marion) Robertson and Jenece Lynn Glover, both of Milroy; one brother, Arnold Wissel of Westport; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Francis) Rudolf and Mrs. Deloris Schuler, both of Batesville; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Besides her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Hankins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the East Brook Cemetery in Milroy. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
