Vera or Toots as the family called her was the 14th and last born child of Adelbert Eugene and Margaret Elizabeth Lewellen Flower on January 2, 1912 in LaGrande, Union, Oregon. She married David Henry Adams at the age of 14 and had her first child, William David Adams on February 6, 1929 in Baker, Baker, Oregon. Two more children followed, first a daughter, Barbara Jean who lived a short 4 months and 16 days and then a son David Adams, stillborn with Vera passing away during childbirth also. David Henry was left with a 3 year old to raise and let Billy go to his mothers older sister, my grandmother Blanche Hogg. His uncle Eugene later came to Oregon from California for a visit and he and his wife Marian wanted to take Billy with them to California as they never had children of their own. Aparently all including his father agreed because they took him back to California and when his father passed away at the age of 37 they adopted him changing his name to Flower. Years later Eugene and Marian divorced and she and Billy moved to Washington State.

Vera, her mother, her huband and both her babies are buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in LaGrand, Union, Oregon. They are all in Div: A Blk: 9 Lot: 1
