Reverend Joe R. Emerick, 75, of 7th Ave. Parkersburg died November 20th, 2002 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Jackson County a son of the late Charles and Isabelle Province Emerick.

He was a retired mechanic for Walker Machinery and was a former employee for Rish Equipment. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII and sang in The Living Quartet. He and his wife started the Rose of Sharon Singers group and had served as minister for many churches in the area.

Surviving are 5 daughters: Linda Mills of Reedsville, OH, Shirley Smith of Wadesville, WV, Maureen Emerick of Parkersburg, Mary Dequaise of Mineral Wells, and Laureen Jenkins of Waverly, WV, 4 sons: Larry Emerick of Washington, WV, Donnie Emerick of Conway, SC, Chuck Emerick of Parkersburg and Kevin Emerick of Parkersburg, a sister Margaret Bunner of Vienna, 2 brothers: Lester Emerick of Parkersburg and Frank Emerick of Whisper Glen, IL, 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Maxine Carmichael Emerick, 2 daughters: Sheila and Julie Emerick, 3 brothers: Ralph, Clair and Robert Emerick.

Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, Reverend Bill Eakle officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 7-9 PM, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM and one hour prior to services Monday.
