DROWNED

Jacob Altmeyer, who for a number
of years made his home in Elwood,
moving to Atlanta a short time ago,
was drowned in the river at that place
last evening. Meagre details of the
accident have been secured so far, and
just how he died has not been learned
here. The body will be brought to
Elwood for burial, arriving here about
11 o'clock Tuesday. The funeral will
be held in the Catholic church by
Father Biegel, with interment in St.
Joseph's cemetery.
Mr. Altmeyer married a Miss Hack-
elman here several years ago and had a
large circle of friends here. He
served with distinction as a soldier in
the Spanish American war, belonging
to Company I, which will at-
tand the preliminary funeral service
at Atlanta in a body.

Born abt 1871. Died abt. 1902 of drowning. Married Maude Hackleman 1893 in Madison, IN. Father of Myrtle (Altmeyer) Crail. Maude remarried Ernest Karr and then James Boldman.
