Funeral services for Ella Marie Benson, 91, of 332 Cleveland will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday from Chaney-Walters Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Riverside cemetery.
Mrs. Benson died Sunday, Feb. 25 at a Sterling nursing home.
She was born Dec. 24, 1898, in Weeping Water, Neb., the daughter of Otto and Mary Marquardt Hagemeier and came to Sterling from North Loup, Neb., in 1915. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1915, then taught school in in the southwest Fleming area for eight years, living in the Kelly area.
She married Barney A. Benson,June 27, 1923, in Sterling and the couple moved to Sterling in 1945,
but continued to farm until 1965. Mr. Benson died Feb. 10, 1965.Mrs. Benson returned to school and graduated with her diploma from NJC in 1963.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Mrs. Benson is survived by six sons, Russell Benson of Tucson. Ariz., Robert Benson of La Crescenta, Calif., Roy Benson of Sterling, David Benson of Glendale, Ca lif., Larry Benson of Gresham, Ore., and Lanny Benson of Richardson, Texas; a daughter, Carol Ann Capps of Sunland, Calif.; a sister, Alvina Dahl of Omaha, Neb.; 17 grandchil then; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
