William Cordra Jr. was born to Sgt. William Cordra and Nancy Long Maples in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

His siblings were Canaea; Rutha or Ritha; John Henry (my 3rd great grandfather); Wilson; Edward Noah; Isaac; Moses; Peter; George L.; Jonah; Nancy and McCampbell.

William married Jane L. Reynolds in 1819 in Tennessee.

William & Jane had nine (9) children were born; Nancy; Hannah; John B.; James Noah; Samuel E.; Frances Emily; Robert S.; Martha J. and Rubin A. Maples.

Jane died in 1852 and in 1853 William married Sarah "Sallie" Adeline Blackwell.

William and Sallie were buried beside each other in the Maples Cemetery in Bell County, Texas. However, their bodies (with many others) were exhumed in July 1942 (by government officials of the Ft. Hood Military Base) and re-interred where they now rest in the Killeen Cemetery, in Bell County, Texas.
