Died Aug 17, 1866 at age 32, buried in single grave 0248. From the cemetery information, her address at the time of death was 311 S. 5th St, same as Leopold Steinberger. She died of cholera. She was the daughter of Jacob Steinberger and wife of David Strauss and was born in Schnaittach, Bavaria. She was 33 when she died on August 17, 1866.
See her mother and her brother David for family info.

She married David Strauss in NYC in the mid-1850's. From NY records and the 1860 census, there are five children. David died in NY 1 July 1865 of consumption and was buried in Union cemetery, now closed.

Jacob (Jake) Strauss (4 Sep 1857 - 24 Apr 1942). He lived with his aunt and uncle, Charlotte and Henry Sicher around 1880.

Jonas/John - b 1859 died unmarried in 1926 in St. Louis.

Max Strauss (21 Jan 1861 - 22 Nov 1915). He was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Marie Steinberger and Simon Steinberg.

Amalie Fany born 5 Oct 1862 in NYC. She is not mentioned in John Strauss obit so presumably she died young.

David born 1 Aug 1865 in NYC. Based on the obit of his brother John Strauss, David was adopted by his uncle Leopold Steinberger and his wife Hannah. David's memorial is 94064920. Records are consistent with this assignment although David's death certificate gives Leopold and Hannah as his parents. David supplied the information for John Strauss death certificate and presumably the obituary.
