Mrs. Alice Christine Tomlinson Carpenter, 82, retired employee of Weather Tamer and former resident of Polk Arms Apartments, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Signature Health Care.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Butt officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Ludlow, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry Tomlinson and Verdie Askins Tomlinson Sanders.

Survivors include one son, Gary Carpenter of Columbia; one granddaughter, Misti Carpenter of Columbia; one great grandchild, Emily Garcia of Columbia; two sisters, Goldie Harder of Hohenwald and Edna (Marvin) Haydock of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret James.
