Miss Clara Dorothy Davis was born on the Davis homestead east of town, Sept. 11, 1872, and passed away at the Eldora hospital Tuesday afternoon, at the age of 53 years. Cancer of the stomach being the cause of her death. Most of her life has been spent in this community. When a young lady, she taught school for a number of years but later was forced to give it up and care for her parents and sister. She moved to Eldora about 8 years ago and has been active in church work in the Methodist church and was very active in the W. C. T. U. She has been a member of the Bethel Evangelical church since 1888.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Davis, pioneer residents of this part of the country. She is survived by her brother, Samuel of this place and a sister, Sarah of Independence, Iowa, one niece, Mrs. H. M. Boyd of this place and one nephew, Harold Davis, of California.
Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the M. E. church and are being conducted by Rev. J. M. Bamford, of Colo. assisted by Rev. C. C. Miner of Lawn Hill and Rev. R. V. Porter of Eldora. Burial will be made in the Buckner cemetery.
