The following is the announcement of her death from the August 20, 1937 edition of the Crittenden Press:
"Hazel Alexander, 17, died yesterday at noon, in Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville (Kentucky), where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. Death was caused by a ruptured appendix and blood poison following the operation. She had been ill only a short time before being removed to the institution. The only daughter of W. C. and Mrs. Alexander, she was born and reared in the Piney section of the county and was popular among a large circle of friends in the community and county."
Death has allowed Hazel to remain forever young. Rest in peace.
