Alice Main Mattocks Simmons, of Silverdale, NC, died at the Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, NC. She was a 1938 graduate of Georgetown High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class. As a lifetime member of the Saint Paul A.M.E. Zion church, some of her affiliations included: consecrated Deaconess since 1960, church clerk, general claims Secretary, class leader, youth & adult Sunday School teacher, choir member and President of the Missionary Society. On November 28, 2001, she was inducted into the North Carolina Conference Hall of Fame. As a public servant, she worked in the Onslow County School system from 1957-1986.

Homegoing Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 07, 2009 in the Saint Paul A.M.E. Zion Church, Silverdale, NC. Interment in the Mattocks-Spicer Family Cemetery, Onslow County, NC.
