William Jesse Isbell (1884-1986), son of Wesley Sherman Isbell and grandson of Elijah Miller Isbell, remembered seeing his grandfather's uncle Zachariah once when he was about 5 years old (1889-90) and Uncle Zach had "won a large sum of money in a poker game the night before."(Letter from his grandson Rev. R. Sherman Isbell Jr., 1984.)
When Zachariah Isbell died, unmarried, his nephews Elijah Miller Isbell and Charles Levi Isbell, were executors of his estate. The administration papers document all the descendants of William Isbell and Sarah Richardson known to them.
