On Friday, August 20, 1915, six years after Emily's death, her parents secured a baby sitter to watch over the remainder of her brothers and sisters. Her parents went to a nearby town to attend a dance. While at the dance, they received notice and quickly returned home to find their home had caught on fire. The babysitter and all of Emily's brothers and sisters died in this tragic fire.
Having buried all of their children, Emily's parents had no more. The family home and fire took place in the town of Churchill, Idaho which is no longer in existence. Emily's parents and siblings are all buried at the Marion Cemetery (near Oakley), Cassia County, Idaho.
A special note of thanks to Max Turpin who originated this memorial and provided the photos.
