He was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Sturgis. Mr. White was a self-employed salesman/businessman and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Mathiston Baptist Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Temple. Mr. White died Jan. 31, 2009, at his residence in Starkville.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Woods White of Starkville; one daughter, Shelia Criddle Robertson of Starkville; three stepsons, Hamp Woods and Jackie Woods of Ackerman, and Ricky Woods of Senatobia; one sister, Clara Marie Newman of South Bend, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Gertrude White; his first wife, Wilma Jean Wells White; a brother, Grady M. White and a sister, Jewel Palmer.
Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Sheriffs Boys and Girls Ranch and/or the Ackerman Church of Christ.
