Jama LaVonne Hoel, 73, lost her 41/2 year battle with cancer on June 29, 2009. She was born December 23, 1935 to Orvin Eugene and Lillie Esther Berg Anderson in Navina, OK. She married her high school sweetheart, Carrol Dean Hoel in Navina on February 12, 1954. Four sons were born to them, Danny, Kevin, Victor and John. Surviving her is her husband, sons, daughter-in-law Camille and step-grandson Tyler Hester, sister Lorene Anderson Guthery and husband Bill. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gene. She attended grade school at Navina and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1954. She was the secretary for GHS during the 1954-1955 school term. LaVonne spent most of her adult life caring for children, first in her home and at her church where she was a Sunday School teacher for almost 40 years and was a longtime Nursery Supervisor for the church nursery. She also worked almost 30 years at Lakeside United Methodist Child Care Center, first full time and then filling in where they needed her. She worked with the Cub and Boy Scouts serving in a number of positions including den leader. She joined the Methodist Church at an early age and had many wonderful memories of her church at Navina. She has been a longtime member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. Dean and LaVonne enjoyed taking genealogy trips to find their roots. Funeral services will be at Lakeside United Meth-odist Church at 2 pm Thursday, July 2, 2009. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, OK.
