Albert Newton, 79, of Choctaw, OK, was taken to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Al was born in Inola, OK on Oct. 6, 1927 to Santford & Gladys Goodmon . He graduated from Claremore High School in May of 1945.

He married Maureen Parke in June of 1960. Al retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969 after having proudly served for 22 years and 3 months. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as an electronics technician before fully retiring in 1994. Al was a longtime member of Choctaw Church of the Nazarene where he worked in several areas of children's ministries. Al loved to bowl and square dance, having been a member of the Tinker Retired Mixed Bowling League and Happy Tracks Square Dance Club. At his death, he was a member of The Independent Order of Foresters and at one time he also belonged to the Choctaw Roundup Club, American Legion, and the VFW. Nothing was more important to Al than God and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen; children: Roger and wife, Joanne of Huntsville, AL, and Ellen of Del City, OK; grandchildren: Cara, April, Shauna and Holly Goodmon , Jeremy and Christi Pearson; great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Goodmon ; Austin and Tyler Reed as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. The family thanks the staff of Hospice Quality Care of Del City and the Veterans Center in Norman for their outstanding care of Al during his final weeks. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 at the Choctaw Church of the Nazarene, NE 10th and Harper with interment at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans #39 of Midwest City or Love Link Ministries, Inc. of Oklahoma City. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7 from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. with formal visitation from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home.
