Obituary of John Schwanke
John Schwanke, a well known resident of Pleasant View, died very suddenly last Sunday forenoon while on his way to Ada with some of the family to attend church. When he left home Mr. Schwanke seemed in the best of health and spirit, having made no complaint of not feeling well. Just after he had driven the team across the lake bridge as you enter the village from the north he fell forward from his seat and when assistance was rendered by those passing by, he was found to be in an unconsious condition. A physician was sent for and in the meantime Mr. Schwanke was taken to the Northwestern Hotel where he expired before a physician could reach his bedside. Heart trouble was the cause of his death.
Deceased leaves a wife and six children, the oldest a boy of sixteen years and the youngest but four years old. Mr. Schwanke came here in 1887 and farming has been his vocation. He was not very well off in a financial way and his death at this time leaves his family in poor circumstances. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Staark officiating. The internment was at the Green Meadow cemetery.
