Services for Vergie Mae Barrett were held Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home. The Rev. Tommy Anderson and the Rev. Ryan Miley officiated. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Barrett, 93, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, in Neshoba County Nursing Home.

She was a native of Neshoba County and a longtime resident of the Linwood community. She was a retired sewing machine operator for Wells Lamont in Philadelphia. Mrs. Barrett was a member of Linwood Baptist Church and had been active WMU.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Merele Nicholson and Austin Barrett; and one daughter, Ruby Blaine.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Spears of Union and Martha Miley of Brandon; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mitchell Cannon, Bobby Cannon, Christopher Parrish, Scott Miley, Tracy Miley and Christopher Dees.
