Bonnie I. Mars, 68, of Marshall, Ill. passed away at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at her home. She was retired from Indiana State University where she had served in the Athletic Dept. and later served at Sycamore Complex for many years. She was born Aug. 2, 1940, in Terre Haute, Ind., the daughter of Richard Pearce and Catherine Tanoos Pearce. She married Robert L. Mars on April 15, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2003. Surviving are her children, Bobbi Mars of New Palestine, Ind., Brenda (Kim) Edington of Marshall, Ill., and Brad (Michelle) Mars of Marshall, Ill., and four grandchildren, Zachary and Lee Edington, Hope and Ivy Mars. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Steven Mars. She was a graduate of Honey Creek High School at Terre Haute and attended Brown's Business College for two years. She lived a life of creativity through her deeds, actions and crafts. She was a lover of animals. Services in honor of her life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St. Marshall, Ill., with Bro. Stacey Smith of the First Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today and prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Clark County Animal Control Service or to the Terre Haute Humane Society.
