Kathlyn Holgerson, 84

A graveside service will be held for Kathlyn Holgerson on Sunday, June 28 at 3 p.m. at the Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens between Miami and Superior. Kathlyn passed away on February 9, 2009 in Smyrna, GA.

A memorial service was held first Feb. 12 at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Smyrna. Kathlyn was born in Eager on June 30, 1924. She lived in Arizona most of her life, but moved to Georgia in 1999.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Kisselburg and Linda Penman, four grandchildren, Deborah Davis, Scott Kisselburg, John Penman, and Beth Kearney. She has nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Florine Koch and Yvonne Fioritti, and her brother, Floyd Ekstrom. Kathlyn's step children include Marge Martin, Karen Householder, Linda Bowen, and Rex Holgerson (deceased). Her step children are Margi Martin, Marci Martin, Farrel Martin, Mary Martin, Marilyn Crosby, DelAn Heymore, Cindy Mattice, J.D. Householder, Rohn Householder, MaryAnn Bowen, James Holgerson and Larisa Vian (deceased) She also has thirty-eight step great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

When she lived in Globe, Kathlyn was an active member of St. Paul's Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and was a leader in the Sunday School program and United Methodist Women.

She was a Girl Scout leader and a dedicated supporter of her daughters' many activities. She then moved to Thatcher when she married Glen Holderson.

She quickly joined her husband's poultry club and other groups that he enjoyed. She became an officer and worked enthusiastically with these groups. In Georgia Kathlyn enjoyed being with her daughter, Sandra and her family.

Kathlyn will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother as well as a generous and thoughtful friend.
