Frank was the first born son of Joseph Brenna & Angelina Pierri. Born in San Fele, Italy he emigrated as an infant with his parents to the United States in 1901. He and his parents settled in New York City. He contracted polio at the time of his entry into America. Although partially disabled, Frank worked for years in the New York City garment district as a dress cutter. He was self-educated and well read. He always looked for ways to expand his horizons. He died of a sudden heart attack at his sister's home in Jamaica, Queens County, New York in 1957.
