GIBSON CITY – Elizabeth "Lizzie" Allen, 92, a resident of Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, formerly Gibson City, died at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday (April 21, 1982) at the nursing home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, with Robert Johnson and Kelvin Mayer officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen was born Oct. 21, 1889, at McLeansboro, a daughter of Henry and Nancy Kelly Goin. She married Francis Allen Jan 23, 1907, at St. Louis. He died march 26, 1976.
Survivors include two daughters, Flossie Messick of Gibson City and Harriet Marcum of LeRoy; six sons, Kenneth Allen of LeRoy, Orville Allen of Cullom, Dell Allen of Jacksonville, Eugene Allen and Elwood Allen, both of Gibson City, and Wayne Allen of Decatur; about 150 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Rosenkranz of Belleville.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, five grand children, a great grandchild, four brothers and a sister.
She had been a resident of Gibson City from 1943 until she move to the nursing home in 1977.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
