Edna Cardon Taylor, Mom, Grandma "Ted", graduated to the next kingdom of our Heavenly Father on Friday, 14 Sept, 2007. She was born 16 April 1915, in Logan, Utah. She was the 6th daughter and 7th of 8 children of Louis Samuel and Rebecca Ann Ballard Cardon. She graduated from Logan High School in 1932, at the age of 17 having 3rd grade and from Utah State Agricultural College ( USU ) in 1936 with a BS degree in Business.
She met Thomas Alva Taylor in 1936, and they were married on 1 April, 1938. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on 21 December, 1938.
After Tom graduated in Wildlife in 1939, they moved to Baker, Oregon, returning to Logan in 1940 for further education in Elementary Education. From 1941 through 1951, they lived in Idaho and Washington, where they worked in public schools. During that time, they had a son, Thomas Ronald Taylor, who now lives in Ontario, California with his wife Shawna and a daughter Nancy Louise Taylor ( Both ) Willie who lives in Logan with her husband Don A. Willie. Edna has 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way.
Edna owned and ran the Logan Credit Bureau from 1951 to 1955, when she decided to return to USU to get her teaching certificate. In 1955, she began teaching 1st Grade at the Adams School, and later at the Hillcrest School, where she also acted as Head Teacher while they added onto the building in the following years. She was offered the Principal-ship there, but chose to stay in the classroom with the children. She taught for 22 years, retiring in 1977. She loved teaching her approximately 600 children to LOVE to READ! Many of you will remember her in that role.
Mom and Dad belonged to the Varsity Dancers (ballroom dancing) for many years, and went to all the Aggie football and basketball activities throughout their lives. They even traveled with their beloved Aggies to many out of state games and even all the way to Japan.
After retirement, Edna and Tom traveled throughout the U.S. gathering family history information. They then wrote and published several books, TAYLOR/OWENS, THEIR TRAILS AND TIES, THE CARDON/BALLARD TREE, CARDONS, and THE BALLARD McNEIL CONNECTION. She became the expert resource for our entire family on genealogy, and served in many church callings, including the Logan LDS Temple for 7 years, teaching "Family History Classes" for 10 years and along with Lula DeValve, compiled and wrote the "27th Ward History."
Mom served 4 years as Camp Captain of the "Henry Ballard Daughters of the Utah Pioneers," and has always been very proud that Henry Ballard was her mother's father and of her Cardon, Ballard and McNeil pioneer heritage. Her precious family has always been a top priority to her. Mom served in leadership in the Lady Lions, the Logan Golf and Country Club, and the Logan Education Association.
Edna and Tom were always very active in educational, civic and church activities.
Mom loved handwork, kids, keeping busy, and her roses. She never allowed and of her children or grandchildren to say we were 'bored.' She has always been a wonderful example to us of love, service, education, ambition, and hard work. She successfully raised a family and had a career, as well. She was a remarkable woman! We are proud to be yours. We all love you, Grandma Taylor. You're the BEST! We'll see you again soon.
