Esten Fulgham Borders - an 85 year-old native of Troy, Alabama and longtime resident of Mobile passed away at a local hospital on Monday, December 15, 2008. She retired as a clerk from Brookley Air Force Base after 12 years of service. Mrs. Borders was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clem E. Borders, Sr.; granddaughter, Rhonda Leigh Borders Frye; sister, Pearl F. Gordon; and brother, Fate Fulgham. She is survived by her children, Rennie Ann (Paul) Rickell and Clem E. (Mary) Borders, Jr. both of Mobile; three grandchildren, Virgil E. Rickell of Mobile, Rex Lamar Borders of Semmes, and Charisse B. Smith of Mobile; seven great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of the South, P.O. Box 9693, Mobile, AL 36691.
