He was born on Oct. 18, 1923, to Thomas and Maude Mitchell Turner in Paden City, WV. He married Dorothy Gaynell Rockwell in Paden City in 1940. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1983.
Seven brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Rita Boyd of Adrian, Mich., Donna (Thomas E.) Snider of Pekin, Robert E. Turner Jr. of Bartonville and William E. (Debra) Turner of Mapleton; sister, Hazel Wallace of Portland, Ore.; and brother, Thomas Turner. He also is survived by his grandchildren, William C. Boyd, Thomas H. Snider, William E. Turner, Donna M. Boyd, Jennifer L. Pilarsky, Deborah K. Zolikoff, Shayna M. MacNaught and Traci A. Whitby; and seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert served in the Army during World War II and worked as a production superintendent at Lonza for 18 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 86 in Paden City and a self-taught classical guitarist.
Cremation has been accorded, and graveside services will be held in Paden City Memorial Garden in Paden City, WV.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
