John Wendall Hampton was born on 9 September 1931 at Wenatchee, Washington. He is the son of John Lewis and Mary Alvena (Smith) Hampton.
On 18 September 1951 John enlisted into the United States Navy. He served, during the Korean War, until being honorably discharged on 14 September 1955, as a Fire Control Technician First Class.
While a resident at the Washington Veterans Home, on 8 September 2007, just one day short of his 76th birthday, John passed away. He was laid to rest in the Home's cemetery at Retsil, Washington.
