Paris M. Albert was the son of John & Mary E. Albert and the husband of Susan J. Daugherty Albert, whom he married March 26, 1867, in Maytown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. In 1860, he was a carpenter presumably living in Newberry Township, York County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 6" tall and had auburn hair and hazel eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg June 25, 1861, and mustered into federal service there August 10 as a private with Co. G, 12th Pennsylvania Reserves (41st Pennsylvania Infantry). On September 2, 1862, he entered Harewood U.S. Hospital in Washington DC, suffering with a right inguinal hernia and discharged from there on a surgeon's certificate January 28, 1863. On January 8, 1864, he enlisted in Philadelphia (Lancaster also reported) with the regular army and assigned to Co. D, 15th U.S. Inf, serving at the rank of private until honorably discharged January 8, 1867. His middle initial is listed as "W" (or perhaps a too artistically written "M") on the both the 12th Pa Res and regular army rolls.
