Gerald "Jerry" Brech, 78, of Amarillo died Friday, May 29, 2009.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Messer, chaplain for Bivins Nursing Home, officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

Mr. Brech was born April 20, 1931, in Dimock, S.D., and had been an Amarillo resident since 1968. He was an equipment mechanic for Sam's Wholesale for more than 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Ola Brech; a son, David Brech of Englewood, Colo.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Brech of North Dakota; and his adopted parents, Dianne McGinnis and Delores Boyd.

The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
