Joseph Preston Welch was born in Brigham
City, Utah, 18 June 1884, to John and Edvenia
Maria Jeppson Welch. His parents moved to Paradise, Utah, where he spent his boyhood. He earned money to finance his own LDS mission to Arkansas from 1905 to 1907. He graduated from Brigham Young College and the Agricultural College at Logan, Utah. He married Effie Lorena Sargent 2 January 1913. He served as County Agricultural Agent in Millard County, (Hinckley,) Utah; later in Provo, Utah. In 1925 he bought a farm in Paradise, Utah. His health became impaired,
and he passed away 19 November 1929.
