Ernest E. Abbett, 87, of Eldon, died Sept. 25, 1985 at the Lincoln Manor Nursing Home in Jefferson City. He was born Sept. 19, 1897 to Eli and Susie Forrester Abbett of Ulman. He married Laura Bass at Tuscumbia on Oct. 1, 1921, and she survives of the home.
Abbett was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Eldon and was employed by General Steel Castings in Granite City, Ill. for 24 years.
From 1946-53 he operated the Hilltop Grocery and Café in Tuscumbia, and he also operated the Bob's Chicken Kitchen in Lake Ozark for 10 years. In 1965 he moved to Eldon and operated Abbett's Trailer Court until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ed Abbett of St. Louis; a brother, Herman Abbett of Tuscumbia; and Cleo Malmberg of Granite City, Ill.; and one grandchild.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2l7, at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon, Rev. Gary Ellsworth presiding. Burial was in Tuscumbia Cemetery.
