Obituary:
Herman B. Bard, 91, of Newton Hamilton, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 1984 at J.C. Blair Hospital where he had been a patient since April 3. Born in Germany Valley, Shirley Township, on Aug. 19, 1892, he was a son of Alfred A. and Matilda E. (Briggs) Bard. He was married to the former Nellie A. Lane on Nov. 22, 1915 in Huntingdon. She preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 1947. Surviving are two children, H. Fred Bard of Newton Hamilton and Mrs. Edward (Anna Louise) Craig, also of Newton Hamilton and with whom he had most recently resided; a nephew, Thomas E. Bard, who was reared in the home, of Clyde, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Dessie Faust of Harrisburg also survives. Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Bard attended the Methodist Church in Newton Hamilton. He had worked for over 30 years at North American Refractories, Mount Union. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, from the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. The Rev. Donald Pellman and the Rev. William Wollett officiating. Interment will be made in Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.
