Maria Parker was born in Stratford, Canada, January 28, 1864 and departed this life Friday, August 12, 1932, aged 68 years, 6 months and 14 days.
She was united in marriage with J. P. Baker, February 10, 1882. For 50 years, they have walked side by side, sharing each others joys and sorrows and fighting the battles of life hand in hand. Practically all of their married life has been spent in DeKalb county, Missouri. To this union was born four children, Ertel of Weatherby; Mrs. Fannie Hancock of Maysville; Mrs. Cleva Burns of Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Electa Fillebaum of Bison, Okla.
Mrs. Baker united with the Christian church some 30 years ago and remained a faithful follower until her Master called her home.
She was a faithful wife, a kind loving mother and a true friend of the needy. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her loss, the four children, 6 grandchildren, two brothers, one half sister, other relatives and a host of friends.
One grandson, Edward Hancock preceeded her in death 5 weeks ago.
“I cannot say, and I will not say
That she is dead; she is just away.
With a cheery smile and a wave of her hand
She wandered into an unknown land.
And left us thinking how very fair,
It needs must be, since she lingers there.”
